If you read the Suja blog, you might already know that I love shopping according to the seasons. When you buy seasonal produce, you support local farmers and you prepare the tastiest meals since the ingredients are so fresh. Out of season produce has to be brought to you across long distances, sometimes across the globe ($10 blueberries from Chile, anyone?) Doesn’t exactly scream “fresh”, does it? These fruits and veggies are also often picked while immature, to ensure that they don’t spoil on the trip. This means less vitamins and nutrients. For these and other reasons, I always try to purchase organic, in-season fruits and veggies.
